How to Send Bulk WhatsApp Messages More Safely

No tool can make bulk messaging risk-free: WhatsApp can restrict a number whenever it decides to. These ten habits are what lowers the risk in practice.

The ten rules

  1. Message people who know you. The strongest signal WhatsApp looks at is whether people report or block you.
  2. Use a number you can afford to lose. A separate business number is better than your personal one.
  3. Warm up. A new number should send a few messages a day and grow slowly over weeks.
  4. Keep a daily limit. Hundreds on day one is the fastest way to a restriction.
  5. Use random gaps and batch pauses so the pattern does not look like a machine.
  6. Personalise. A name and a real reason to write ("your batch starts Monday") beat a copy-paste ad.
  7. Vary the text a little with spintax such as {Hi|Hello}, so messages are not identical.
  8. Give a way out. Tell people they can reply STOP and then really stop. TechBotMaster skips anyone who replies STOP.
  9. Watch the results. Many failures or "not on WhatsApp" numbers mean your list is old. Clean it first.
  10. Stop when something looks wrong. If people report you or messages stop delivering, pause for a few days.

What the app does for you

The daily limit, the random gaps, the batch pauses, the list cleaner, the STOP handling and the reports are built in. They help with rules 4, 5, 8 and 9. Rules 1, 2, 3 and 6 are up to you.

If you want the official route

The WhatsApp Business Platform (API) is the officially supported way to send business messages to many people. It has its own costs and approvals. See WhatsApp Business API vs bulk sender software.
