WhatsApp Business API vs Bulk Sender Software
There are three common ways to message many customers on WhatsApp. They differ a lot in cost, approvals and risk. Here is a fair comparison.
The three options at a glance
| WhatsApp Business API | WhatsApp Business app (broadcast lists) | Bulk sender software | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official? | Yes, supported by Meta | Yes | No, not supported by WhatsApp |
| Cost | Provider fee plus charges per conversation | Free | A licence fee, no per-message fee |
| Setup | Business verification, a provider and template approval | Install the app | Install the software and scan a QR code |
| Who can you message? | People who opted in; first messages must use approved templates | Only contacts who saved your number; lists are limited to about 256 people | Any number you add, which is where the risk comes from |
| Risk of a ban | Low when you follow the rules | Low | Real: WhatsApp can restrict the number |
| Best for | Larger businesses and automated alerts | Very small lists | Small businesses that message their own customers |
How to choose
- If you need guaranteed delivery, a verified brand and automated flows, use the official API through a provider.
- If you have a few dozen customers who saved your number, the Business app is enough.
- If you message hundreds of your own customers, want photos and names in every message and do not want per-message charges, sender software is the practical choice. Accept the risk, use a number you can afford to lose and follow the safety rules.
Our position
TechBotMaster is sender software, not an official WhatsApp product. We say clearly that it can lead to a restricted number, and we built limits, delays and a STOP list to help you stay careful. Many small businesses use both: the official app for key customers and sender software for everyday offers.
